DERRICK CHESTON is a photojournalist/editor for NBC 4 WRC. Covering various news stories around the DMV area and helping the sports department Commander's camp. He left NBC 10/Telemundo 62. He worked on an entertainment and lifestyle show called “Philly Live.” During his time at NBC 10, he covered several major events including the 2017 Super Bowl and Pulse night club shooting. In 2019, Derrick became an Emmy award winning journalist as a photojournalist working on an election special.
Before joining NBC, Derrick was the director of videography and editor for BearTV at Morgan State University. Prior to his time there, he worked as a photojournalist at WXII 12 News in Winston Salem, NC.
Derrick is a proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, class of 2011. While in college, he produced a 30-minute weekly show called “Aggie Sports Report.” He also created his own entertainment show called “The Hot Seat.”
Derrick is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
